Ken Griffey Jr. traded to Chicago

Ken Griffey Jr. has never played in a World Series. Now he might get his chance. Griffey has approved a trade to the White Sox, according to a source with knowledge of the deal. The trade is now pending the approval of the commissioner, an indication that it involves a cash transaction of more than $1 million.

The approval is expected to be a formality. The Reds will receive pitcher Nick Masset and second baseman Danny Richar, according to CBS Sportsline.

Griffey, earning $12.5 million this season in the final year of his contract, is owed more than $4 million in salary, plus a $4 million buyout for 2009.

Space Boy!

The British business tycoon, Richard Branson, has unveiled an aircraft in the US that will be used for his project to launch tourists into space.

The high-altitude jet will act as the mothership for a spacecraft, releasing it in mid-air to take two crew and six passengers on sub-orbital flights.

More than 250 people have already paid $200,000 (£100,000) each to be among the first making the tourist trips.

Mr Branson predicts the maiden space voyage will take place in 18 months.

A crowd of engineers, dignitaries and space enthusiasts gathered inside a hangar in the Mojave Desert in California for the unveiling of White Knight Two "Eve".

Shelby Ultimate Aero Electric

Shelby Supercars, or SSC isn't as well known as Bugatti, Ferrari, or Lamborghini, but it holds the world record for the fastest production car, and the company just announced it is developing an all-electric version of its Ultimate Aero supercar.

The Ultimate Aero EV, one of the first ‘green’ supercars, will begin testing in February next year and is expected to be in full production by the fourth quarter of 2009. “I think we can do it faster, leaner and cleaner than any other manufacturer,” said SSC founder Jerod Shelby, who incidentally bears no relation to legendary race driver and sports car developer Carroll Shelby.

Warrior King tonight at SoHo

This dude has released his first full-length album. His VP Records debut, Virtuous Woman, features production by such heavy hitters as Sheldon 'Calibud' Stewart, Richard "Chabano" Brown, Lion Paw and Penthouse as well as guest appearances by Jahmali and dub poet, DYCR. With titles like "Love Jah and Live" and "Boast Not Myself," the CD's seventeen tracks are designed, says Warrior King, to "uplift people's heart, mind and soul in a positive way. All of the songs are written by me, through inspiration of the Father. Everybody can relate to a song on the album, I'm sure of that." The album opens up with "Power To Chant," a spiritual invocation of Jah that neatly sets the tone for what's to follow. Each song featured on the cd has a different style, but the message emphasizes purity and truth.

Celtics doing what they need to do

These things are good!

Carl’s Jr. has axed selling its regular French fries.

The fried item was replaced this week by natural-cut fries. The switch comes nearly a year after CKE Restaurants debuted natural-cut fries at Hardee’s, sister chain to Carl’s Jr.

Gulfstream 650!!!

The new Gulfstream 650 was unveiled yesterday at their Savannah factory. Yes Steve Jobs, yes Al Gore, yes Kevin Rose, this one can take you anywhere in the world with its 7,000 nautical miles range at a top speed of Mach 0.925 (704mph,) almost the speed of sound at a 41,000-feet altitude. You and your 99,600-pound cargo of, hmm, whatever you dirty rich people take around on trips: all your mountain bikes, your Bonos, and your carbon-footprint air fresheners or something. But don't put your current Gulfstreams on Craiglist yet, because there's a catch. The catch for the billionaires of this world? These technological wonders are not available today: the unveiled craft is a mock-up of the whole thing. The $58.5 million Gulfstream 650 won't be ready until 2012, which apparently will raise the total price for $65 million. Or, if you live in Europe, $101 million.

B. Rothe coming in hott!

Brandon Rothe comes up huge in event number four (OBX, NC) taking first place and leapfrogging into the UST top five. Paulo Prietto racked up another second place finish making point advances on both Morgan Just and Bill Bryan (who failed to make a final for the first time this year). Morgan Just earned himself a third place finish but unfortunately re-aggravated a hamstring injury which will keep him out of competition for at least the next two events. A heartfelt get well soon goes out to Morgan who has had one of the best season starts of all time. Brad Domke snuck into fourth place and edged his way up to 6th in the standings.

While Bill Bryan didn't make the final, he didn't miss by much, earning 5th place and keeping Paulo's point advance to a minimum. The most important event of the year is this coming weekend as competitors will battle it out for 1500 points at the West Coast Championships. Stay tuned, things are about to get interesting....

Anyone surprised?

World Championship leader Valentino Rossi put an end to Casey Stoner´s victory run with a win at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.

The result at Laguna Seca leaves Rossi with a 25 point lead over Stoner at the top of the standings as Spaniard Dani Pedrosa's title hopes seem to have vanished after he crashed out of the previous race in Germany while leading, suffering injuries that kept him out of the US GP.

It means the race for the world title should be between Stoner and Rossi with seven races left and a possible 175 points up for grabs.

WTF!!

Chanel Guillotine. By Artist Tom Sachs. I guess if your gonna go, you might as well go out in style!

Ferrari Loves California

They love it so much they named their newer, tamer, less expensive slab, the California.

Like the name, the Ferrari California Sportscar is hot, envied, and flashy. The Ferrari California is also the Ferrari's first retractable hardtop convertible plus the company's first car to use a V8 with direct injection. Running on a 4.3L V8, the California Sportscar boasts 460 hp and is matched with a 7 speed dual clutch transmission. A beautiful automobile. Ferrari.
